**********************************************************

Members of the public are invited to join the "Chinese Naming and Logo Design Competition of Senior Police Call (SPC)" to be launched tomorrow (March 1).

The two-category competition is to raise public awareness of the scheme, which is an elderly engagement project of the Hong Kong Police Force.

A Police spokesman said: "SPC aims at strengthening communication between the Police and the elderly community with a view to promoting their personal safety, avoiding becoming victims of crimes, and enhancing their awareness of road safety.

"Through implementing SPC, the Police hope to foster a fight crime partnership with the elderly to promote crime prevention messages as well as to realise their potentials."

Entrants may either enrol on an individual basis or as a group of not more than five people in one or both categories of the competition. Each participant or group may only submit one entry for each category. The closing date is March 28.

Details of the competition and application forms are available at the Hong Kong Police webpage (www.police.gov.hk).
