CSSA caseload for January

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January showed a drop of 296 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent  compared to that of December 2012, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (February 27).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of January stood at 268,943 (see attached table), with a total of 417,644 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.1 per cent and 0.8 per cent to 10,229 cases and 23,797 cases respectively. Single parent cases and ill-health cases also dropped by 0.4 per cent and 0.3 per cent to 30,766 cases and 25,236 cases.

     Old age cases and permanent disability cases both registered a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 153,505 cases and 18,401 cases respectively.
