The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government issued the following statement today (February 26) regarding the assistance rendered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hong Kong people in connection with the Luxor balloon accident in Egypt:
The HKSAR Government learned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would field a five-member team headed by a Deputy Director-General to Egypt to provide assistance to Hong Kong people and their families in need.
A government spokesman expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by the Ministry.
Staff of the Immigration Department will fly to Egypt to work together with the team and staff of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China there to closely follow up on the incident and its aftermath.
