FEHD orders Mong Kok restaurant to suspend business for two weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor at No. 11 Tai Nam Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 22) to March 7.

"Between September 2011 and last August, a total of six convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $15,000 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," the spokesman said.

The licensee lodged an appeal to the Licensing Appeals Board which decided to suspend her licence for 14 days instead of cancelling the licence.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
