******************************************************

The Long Term Housing Strategy Steering Committee held its fourth meeting today (February 21).

In today's meeting, Members continued to have in-depth discussions on the housing needs and priorities of specific groups in the community, including the elderly, non-elderly singletons and poorly housed households, as well as youngsters and first-time homebuyers, and possible measures to meet their needs.

Members also expressed preliminary views on the methodology for and key components to be included in the projection of long-term housing demand. "These preliminary views are by no means conclusive, as further analysis and study would be made. The Steering Committee will continue to examine the issue of the projection of long-term housing demand in detail," said the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, who is also the Chairman of the Steering Committee.
