********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:

Ballots were drawn today (February 18) for the Scheme of Extending the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) Secondary Market to White Form Buyers to set the priority of allocating the quota of 5,000.

The Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA)'s Subsidised Housing Committee, Mr Stanley Wong, officiated at the ballot drawing.

About 66,000 applications were received, with about 23,400 from family applicants and about 42,600 from one-person applicants.

The HA will vet the eligibility of the applicants in accordance with the priority for the quota allocation as determined by the ballot. After the vetting, the Housing Department (HD) will announce in mid or late May the priority list of the 5,000 successful applicants. Approval Letters will be issued to the first batch of 2,500 successful applicants in accordance with the priority list at the end of May and the remaining 2,500 at the end of December.

"Holders of the Approval Letter have to apply within six weeks from the date of the Approval Letter to the HA or the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) for a Certificate of Eligibility to Purchase before seeking and purchasing suitable flats with premium not yet paid on the HOS Secondary Market or the HKHS' Flat-for-Sale Scheme Secondary Market," a spokesman for the HA said.

"Whether the applicants can successfully purchase a flat depends on many factors, including whether there are flats available for sale in their desirable locations," the spokesman added.

The ballot results have been uploaded to the HA/HD website at www.housingauthority.gov.hk/mini-site/sms-white-form-buyers/common/pdf/ballotresult.pdf .

On February 19, the priority lists of the applicants will be uploaded on the HA/HD website and posted at the HA's Customer Service Centre in Lok Fu, all public housing estate offices and Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department for public inspection. Applicants may also call the HA Hotline 2712 2712 for enquiries.
