Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, on the public consultation on a producer responsibility scheme for glass beverage bottles after attending an event this afternoon (February 17):

Reporter: Do you have the figure on how many recycling bins for glass bottles are there at the moment? And to what extent can they be increased?

Secretary for the Environment: The collection points are actually increasing very rapidly. We are working, for instance, with the Housing Authority that each housing estate, particularly in the Kowloon East area, would have their own collection points. We are talking with them to extend the collection points from the Kowloon East housing estates to other housing estates. So in the forthcoming years, we would expand the collection points very rapidly. By the time when we are going to have the levy scheme, I think we would have a very convenient system for people to separate the glass bottles for collection.
