FEHD orders Sheung Shui restaurant to suspend business for two weeks
***********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sheung Shui to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located at flat E on the ground floor of Sun Bo Building at San Kan Street in Shek Wu Hui, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 16) to March 1.

"In October and December last year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $20,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offences in May 2011 and February last year. A total fine of $20,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in April last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
