*******************************************************

Twenty-five local youth bands and dance groups, together with three popular bands - KOLOR, KillerSoap and 3Think - will perform in the "Youth Band Marathon 2013" to be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza this Sunday (February 17) from 2pm to 8.30pm. Admission to this high-voltage music showcase is free.

With Wong Chi-chung and Jacky Lui as the emcees, the concert will feature popular music, rock and rap, including original pieces by over 10 local bands. Dance groups will perform breakdance, street dance and jazz and hip hop dance. In addition, a handicrafts market will be set up and a workshop will be held to show the creativity of the young artists.

Three pop-rock heavyweights will also be performing in the concert. The pop-rock group KOLOR, which derived its name from the word "colour", aims to bring changes to the local pop-rock scene. The band's songs are popular among music fans and have received critical acclaim. Independent rock band KillerSoap fuses Japanese rock with pop music, creating fast, upbeat and catchy tunes as well as some moody, touch-your-heart ballads. Another performing group, 3Think, is keen on promoting originality in the local music scene and the band will play some of their popular songs in the concert.

"Youth Band Marathon 2013" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, with the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Caritas Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association as programme partners.
