Special traffic arrangements in Lam Tsuen

     Police will implement crowd management and special traffic arrangements to facilitate members of the public visiting the "Wishing Tree" in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, during the Lunar New Year from February 10 to 24.

     ¡§Police will continue to take strict enforcement actions against illegal parking. During the Lunar New Year period, any illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without prior notice,¡¨ a Police spokesman said.

     ¡§As a large number of people are expected to visit the ¡¥Wishing Tree¡¦ in Lam Tsuen, we are calling on the public to make use of public transport to alleviate traffic congestion,¡¨ he added.

     The following traffic measures will be implemented from February 10 to 17, and may also be implemented from February 18 to 24 depending on the prevailing traffic situation, between 7am and 7pm daily:

Temporary restricted zone:

     All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from pick up or drop off passengers and loading or unloading goods at:

1. A section of the access road to Fong Ma Po Village between Lam Kam Road and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office; and
2. A section of Lam Kam Road between the access road to Tong Sheung Tsuen and Lam Kam Road Interchange, except franchised buses and green minibuses (GMBs).

     Depending on the prevailing traffic situation, public light buses and taxis may be allowed to pick up or drop off passengers at bus stops on Lam Kam Road near Hang Ha Po Tsuen and Tong Sheung Tsuen. Plying for hire is strictly prohibited.

     The following traffic measures will be implemented from February 10 to 24:

Road closure:

     A section of Lam Tsuen Heung Kung Sho Road between Lam Tsuen Pai Lau and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office will be closed to vehicular traffic (except emergency vehicles) between 7am and 7pm daily during the period for the implementation of pedestrianisation.

Temporary traffic diversion:

1. Depending on the prevailing traffic situation, all vehicles heading for Lam Kam Road (Pat Heung bound), except franchised buses, coaches, GMBs, taxis with passengers and vehicles of Lam Tsuen residents, may be required to travel via Kwong Fuk Interchange and the nearside lane of the slip road leading from northbound Tolo Highway to Lam Kam Road Interchange; and

2. A temporary vehicle holding area will be designated between Lam Tsuen Public School and Hang Ha Po Tsuen to facilitate visitors alighting or boarding vehicles.

     Members of the public are urged to take heed of instructions of police at scene.
