Fatal traffic accident in Lantau North

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 61-year-old man was killed in Lantau North this afternoon (February 7).

     At about 2.49pm, a taxi driven by a 59-year-old man reportedly hit two pedestrians aged 61 and 56 respectively at a taxi stand near Fantasy Road.  

     Sustaining serious injuries, the two victims were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in unconscious state. The 61-year-old man was certified dead at 3.23pm while the 56-year-old man was admitted to the hospital.

     The taxi driver was arrested for "dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm".
 
     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.

     Police urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1300 or 3661 1348.
