The Transport Department (TD) today (February 7) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented on Des Voeux Road Central, Western District, from 10am next Wednesday (February 13) to 10am on February 22 (Friday) to facilitate tram track renewal work.
The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
(1) Temporary traffic arrangements
* The section of Des Voeux Road Central eastbound between Morrison Street and Cleverly Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except for trams;

* the fast lane of Morrison Street northbound from its junction with Des Voeux Road Central to a point about 10 metres south of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except for trams; and
„c
* vehicles exceeding 8 metres in length will be prohibited from making a right turn from Cleverly Street southbound onto Des Voeux Road Central westbound.
(2) Temporary transport arrangements
* The bus stops on Des Voeux Road Central westbound between Wing Wo Street and Morrison Street will be relocated.
* New World First Bus routes No. 2, 18 and 26; Citybus routes No. 1, 5B and 5S; and cross-harbour routes No. 113, 301, 302, 373, 373A, 641, 905, 914, 934, 935, 948, 968, 969 and N368 heading towards Sheung Wan will be diverted via Des Voeux Road Central and Wing Wo Street before resuming their original routeing on Connaught Road Central.
* Cross-harbour routes No. 960, 961 and N969 heading towards Sheung Wan will be diverted via Des Voeux Road Central and Hillier Street before resuming their original routeing on Connaught Road Central.
Notices will be put up by the bus companies to inform passengers of the above temporary arrangements.
Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
