Post-office employment for Mr Mak Chai-kwong
********************************************

The Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials has advised on the proposed employment of former Secretary for Development Mr Mak Chai-kwong after leaving the Government in July 2012. Mr Mak intends to be employed by the University of Hong Kong as a part-time lecturer.

The Advisory Committee considers that, subject to observance of certain advice it has given, the proposed employment of Mr Mak would not cause any potential conflict of interest. The Advisory Committee also does not anticipate adverse public reaction or public perception problems arising from the proposed employment.

In considering each case, the Advisory Committee has regard to the information provided by the former politically appointed official concerned, assessments by relevant government bureaux or offices, and the criteria for advice as stipulated in the guidance note on post-office employment for politically appointed officials.

Details of the cases are available at the Advisory Committee's website (www.ceo.gov.hk/poo/eng/index.htm).

The membership of the Advisory Committee is as follows:

Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi (Chairman)
Dr Norman Leung Nai-pang
Dr Elizabeth Shing Shiu-ching
Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung
Professor Liu Pak-wai
