Twenty-one building plans approved in December

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in December, with seven on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and seven were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 15 building projects that, when completed, will provide 67,498 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 742 units, and 165,704 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 16 occupation permits, with four on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 247,723 sq m, involving 3,266 units, and 216,774 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled about $9 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3,406 reports about unauthorised building works in December, and issued 2,217 removal orders on unauthorised works.
