SED to visit UK

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will pay an official visit to London, the United Kingdom (UK), between January 27 and 29, where he has been invited to attend and speak at the Education World Forum (EWF), promoting Hong Kong's education reform and policies as well as its role as a world city and a regional education hub.

     The EWF is the largest gathering of education and skills ministers in the world to share experiences, policies, strategies and successes in addressing the challenges ahead. In various sessions of the forum, Mr Ng can meet ministers and delegates from over 70 countries around the world.

     After arriving in London on January 27, Mr Ng will join a reception hosted by the EWF. The formal opening and first session of the EWF will take place on January 28. Mr Ng will give a keynote speech entitled "Nurturing Talent for Hong Kong as a World City and a Regional Education Hub" on January 29.

     In addition to participating in the ministerial forum and exchanges, Mr Ng will take the opportunity to meet with UK education officials and representatives of universities as well as local community leaders, business communities and students from Hong Kong. He will also visit the University College London.

     Accompanying the SED to visit London will be the Deputy Secretary for Education, Dr Catherine K K Chan, and the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Kenneth Cheng. Mr Ng will be back in Hong Kong on January 30.
