CSSA caseload for December 2012

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2012 showed a drop of 821 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, when compared to that in November, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 23).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 269,239 (see attached table), with a total of 418,768 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.6 per cent and 1 per cent to 10,339 cases and 23,980 cases respectively. Single parent and old age cases also dropped by 0.8 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 30,903 cases and 153,302 cases respectively.

     Permanent disability cases remained steady at 18,384 cases. Ill-health cases registered a slight increase of 0.2 per cent to 25,319 cases.
