     The Government announced today (January 18) that Ms Maisie Cheng Mei-sze, ex-Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport), will assume the post of Director of Government Logistics on January 28, 2013.

     Commenting on the appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang, said, "Ms Cheng is a seasoned Administrative Officer with rich experience in public administration and proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in her new capacity."

     A brief biographical note on Ms Cheng is as follows:

     Aged 51, Ms Cheng joined the Administrative Service in September 1987 and rose to her present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in April 2011.

     Ms Cheng has served in various bureaux and departments, including the former Survey Office, the former Transport Branch, the former Civil Service Branch, the former City and New Territories Administration, the former University and Polytechnic Grants Committee, the former Financial Services Branch, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and the Executive Council Secretariat. She was Deputy Commissioner for Tourism from November 2004 to July 2007, Commissioner for Television and Entertainment Licensing from July 2007 to January 2010 and Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport) from February 2010 to June 2012.
