Expressions of interest invited for development of Multi-purpose Sports Complex at Kai Tak
***************************************************

The Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) today (January 18) invited initial, non-binding expressions of interest (EOI) from the private sector and other stakeholders with regard to the development of the Multi-purpose Sports Complex (MPSC) at Kai Tak. The deadline for submitting EOI is February 28.

"The purpose of inviting initial EOI is twofold: first, to raise awareness of the MPSC project, and second, to provide insight into how best to take the project forward. This exercise underlines our commitment to developing a high-quality sporting venue that will reinforce Hong Kong's global status whilst meeting our community's needs and aspirations," an HAB spokesman said.

"The development of the MPSC will help alleviate the existing shortage of public sports facilities and open space, especially in East Kowloon. The modern multi-purpose venues that will be provided at the MPSC will also improve our capacity for hosting major international sports events," the spokesman added.

"We will invite people interested in submitting EOI to attend a multi-stakeholder briefing on January 30. Following analysis of the EOI received, we will prepare and publish a report on this exercise before deciding on how to procure and finance the MPSC," the spokesman said.

Information on the invitation for EOI is available on the HAB website at www.hab.gov.hk/mpsc. Interested parties should submit EOI in accordance with the instructions given in the invitation document before 6pm on February 28, Hong Kong time.
