Correctional Services staff of Tai Lam Correctional Institution (TLCI) and Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution (HLCI) respectively seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs and unauthorised articles in letters addressed to two inmates today (January 16).
At about 3.30pm, TLCI staff discovered a small quantity of white powder concealed in a letter during a security check. Earlier on, staff of HLCI found unauthorised articles, one unused stamp under the posted stamp in each of the three letters to an inmate during security check at about 10.30am.
The two cases were reported to the Police for further investigation.
A spokesperson for the Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
