Police today (January 16) reclassified a dead body found case in Tseung Kwan O that occurred on August 11 last year as murder.
On August 9 last year, Police received a report that a 15-year-old boy left his home in Tseung Kwan O on August 8 and failed to return. Police found a male dead body in the sea off Tseung Kwan O on August 11 and it was later confirmed to be the missing boy.
The Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East took over the case for investigation. Three men and two women, aged between 16 and 34, were arrested in Tseung Kwan O and Chai Wan yesterday (January 15) and today respectively for murder.
Post-mortem examinations had been conducted but the actual cause of death had yet to be ascertained. Initial enquiries revealed that the deceased had been assaulted and later thrown into the sea.
The arrestees are being detained for further enquiries.
Active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East are underway.
