Application for Scheme of Extending the HOS Secondary Market to White Form Buyers to close on Friday
************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:

The Housing Authority (HA) reminds members of the public who are interested in the Scheme of Extending the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) Secondary Market to White Form (WF) Buyers that application for enrolment under the Scheme will close on Friday (January 18).

"Completed application forms, together with necessary documents, should be submitted to the Housing Authority Customer Service Centre (HACSC) in Lok Fu within normal office hours by January 18. For submission by mail, the date of application will be confirmed by the postmark," a spokesman for the HA said today (January 15).

Application forms and guides can be obtained at the HACSC, Estate Offices or District Tenancy Management Offices of the HA and the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), the Sham Shui Po Housing Information Centre, and the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department. The materials can also be downloaded from the HA/Housing Department (HD) website (www.housingauthority.gov.hk). Interested parties can also call the HA Hotline at 2712 2712 for enquiries.

"The Scheme provides a quota of 5 000 for application. Since the number of applications received so far has exceeded the quota, the HA will draw ballots early next month to determine the priority for the quota allocation. The HA will vet the eligibility of the applicants later in accordance with the priority. After the vetting, the HD will announce in mid-May the priority list of the 5 000 successful applicants. Approval Letters will be issued in accordance with the priority list to the first batch of 2 500 successful applicants and the remaining 2 500 by the end of May and at the end of December respectively," the spokesman said.

In response to the aspirations of low- and middle-income families for home ownership, the Government introduced an interim scheme before the completion of the first batch of the new HOS flats. Under the scheme, an annual quota of 5 000 will be set each year for eligible WF applicants who can purchase flats with premium not yet paid on the HA's HOS Secondary Market or the HKHS' Flat-for-Sale Scheme Secondary Market.
