Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 37-year-old man was killed in Tsing Yi early this morning (January 12).

     At about 3.30am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 48-year-old man was travelling along Tsing Kwai Highway towards the New Territories.  When approaching outside Container Terminal 3, a private car driven by the 37-year-old man reportedly collided with the LGV from behind.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 37-year-old private car driver was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in unconscious state.  He was certified dead at 4.22am.

     The driver and two passengers of the LGV were also injured and they were sent to PMH for medical treatment in conscious state.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.

     Police urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1300 or 3661 1348.
