**********************************************************

Members of the public are invited to visit the "Exhibition of Secondary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2012/13)", which is being held from today (January 11) until February 6 at the Education Bureau (EDB) Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.

A spokesman for the EDB said, "The exhibition, organised by the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute of the bureau, aims to display and acknowledge secondary school students' accomplishments in visual arts creation and enable students and teachers to learn from each other."

On display are about 425 artworks which have been selected from 1,400 entries from 155 secondary schools. The exhibits cover different topics and a wide range of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, media art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and design. An artist's statement is attached to each exhibit to provide viewers with more information to appreciate and interpret the work.

The spokesman added, "To support the implementation of the New Senior Secondary Visual Arts curriculum and assessment, students' portfolios in the New Senior Secondary Visual Arts are also displayed to enhance students' understanding of how to build up a portfolio.

"To encourage more students of various ages to submit their entries, participants were categorised into two age groups, 12 to 14, and 15 or above, in the selection of awards. In each age group, grand prizes and honourable mentions were selected from four media, namely two-dimensional work, three-dimensional work, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and media art.

"The adjudicators selecting the awarded entries included the art professionals Mr Henry Chan, Professor Lui Chun-kwong, Dr Stella Tang and Mr Peter Pan, as well as representatives of the Arts Education Section. The selection criteria comprised creativity, aesthetics, manipulation of techniques and media, and communication."
