Special traffic and transport arrangements in Causeway Bay and Southern District on January 6
***********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (January 3) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Causeway Bay, Jardine's Lookout and Southern District this Sunday (January 6) to facilitate the holding of the 2012/2013 Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk.

The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 7.45am, Stadium Path, Caroline Hill Road, Link Road southbound (uphill), Broadwood Road northbound (downhill), the section of Tai Hang Road between Broadwood Road and Blue Pool Road, and the section of Mount Butler Road between Tai Hang Road and Price Road will be closed in phases.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus routes 5B, 11 and 41A, and green minibus routes 5, 14M, 24M and 30, will be temporarily diverted.

* All car parking spaces at Coombe Road, and on-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas, will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas would be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of the public are advised to follow the latest traffic news broadcast via radio and television channels.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).
