Judicial appointment

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary today (December 31) announced the re-appointment of one incumbent Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court.

     The re-appointment of Mr Anderson Chow Ka-ming, SC, will be for three years commencing on January 1, 2013, upon expiry of his current term.

     The re-appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.

     The biographical note of Mr Anderson Chow Ka-ming, SC, is as follows:

     Mr Chow, SC, was born in 1964 in Hong Kong. He obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1986 and 1987 respectively. He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1987 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1995. He was appointed as Senior Counsel in 2004. He was appointed as a Deputy Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court for a period in 2009. He has been appointed as a Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court since 2010. He is currently in private practice.
