Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island on January 1

     Police will implement the following special traffic arrangements and crowd management measures tomorrow (January 1) to facilitate various public processions held on Hong Kong Island.

     Participants are requested to take part in the public event in accordance to the arrangements agreed by the organisers and Police. They are also requested to adhere to directions given by the event marshals or Police.

     As it is anticipated that the traffic in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, and Central will be extremely busy, members of the public who wish to go to these areas are urged to make use of public transport.

(I)

A. Road closure (implemented from 11am)

- A section of Chater Road between Jackson Road and Murray Road;
- Club Street;
- Unnamed slip road next to AIA Central;
- A section of eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Murray Road;
- A section of northbound Ice House Street between Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central;
- A section of southbound Murray Road between Harcourt Road and Queensway;
- Lambeth Walk;
- A section of southbound Cotton Tree Drive between the u-turn slip road of southbound Cotton Tree Drive and Queensway;
- A section of eastbound Queensway between Murray Road and Tamar Street;
- Northbound Tamar Street;
- A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- The first and second right lanes of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
- A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles to the Chief Executive・s Office and the car park of Central Government Complex at Tamar); and
- A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

B. Traffic diversion (implemented from 11am)

- Traffic along westbound Lambeth Walk must turn left to southbound Murray Road;
- Traffic from Jackson Road cannot turn right to eastbound Chater Road;
- Traffic along westbound Connaught Road Central cannot turn left to Club Street;
- Traffic along westbound Connaught Road Central cannot turn left to the unnamed slip road next to AIA Central.
- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;
- Traffic along westbound Queen's Road Central cannot turn right to northbound Ice House Street;
- Traffic along northbound Ice House Street between Wyndham Street and Queen's Road Central must turn left to westbound Queen's Road Central;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to Murray Road;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive cannot turn left to Lambeth Walk;
- Traffic along eastbound Garden Road flyover must turn left to northbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive must make an u-turn to northbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road outside Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles to the Chief Executive・s Office and the car park of Central Government Complex at Tamar); and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to southbound Edinburgh Place.

C. Suspension of bus stop, terminus, car park (between 11am and 1pm)

- All bus stops along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Murray Road; northbound Ice House Street between Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central; southbound Murray Road between Harcourt Road and Queensway; and eastbound Queensway;
- Bus stops and terminus on Tamar Street;
- Murray Road Multi-storey Car Park; and
- The Public Transports Interchange underneath Lippo Centre.

(II)

     A public procession will depart King's Road Playground at 2pm for Drake Street via westbound Marble Road, southbound Kam Hong Street, westbound King's Road, westbound Causeway Road, Fire Dragon Path, westbound Causeway Road, westbound Irving Street, northbound Pennington Street, westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road, westbound Queensway, northbound Rodney Street, eastbound Harcourt Road and Tamar Street. Intermittent road closure along the above route will be implemented.

(III)

A. Road closure

From noon or when necessary:

- Jardine's Bazaar;
- Tang Lung Street;
- A section of Canal Road East between Russell Street and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road; and
- A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road.

From 1pm or when necessary:

- southbound Gloucester Road U-turn slip road to northbound Gloucester Road near junction with Sugar Street;
- Sugar Street;
- Great George Street;
- A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street;
- A section of westbound Kingston Street between Gloucester Road and Paterson Street;
- A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park flyover and Causeway Road;
- Cleveland Street;
- A section of eastbound Kingston Street between Paterson Street and Gloucester Road; and
- A section of Paterson Street between Gloucester Road and Kingston Street.

From 1.15pm or when necessary:

- Westbound Causeway Road;
- Moreton Terrace;
- Shelter Street;
- A slip road leading from eastbound Yee Wo Street to westbound Causeway Road;
- A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park flyover and Causeway Road;
- Irving Street;
- A section of Pennington Street between Keswick Street and Yee Wo Street;
- Westbound Yee Wo Street;
- Westbound Hennessy Road;
- A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- A section of Yun Ping Road between Lan Fong Road and Kai Chiu Road;
- A section of Percival Street between Lockhart Road and Hennessy Road;
- A slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
- A section of Thomson Road between Johnston Road and Luard Road;
- A section of Luard Road between Johnston Road and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Fenwick Street between Hennessy Road and Johnston Road;
- A section of westbound Johnston Road between Ship Street and Hennessy Road (except for tram service); and
- A section of eastbound Johnston Road between Landale Street and Hennessy Road (except for tram service).

From 2.15pm or when necessary:

- A section of westbound Queensway between Queen・s Road East and Rodney Street;
- Eastbound Queensway;
- A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Cotton Tree Drive;
- A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles to the Chief Executive・s Office and the car park of Central Government Complex at Tamar);
- A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central;
- Rodney Street;
- Drake Street;
- Tamar Street;
- A slip road leading from southbound Cotton Tree Drive to eastbound Queensway;
- A slip road leading from northbound Garden Road to eastbound Queensway;
- First and second right lanes of Murray Road between Lambeth Walk and Queensway;
- A section of eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway;
- A section of northbound Ice House Street between Wyndham Street and Des Voeux Road Central;
- A section of Upper Albert Road between Garden Road and Lower Albert Road; and
- Lower Albert Road.

At any time when necessary:

- Yacht Street;
- A section of Lau Li Street between Ngan Mok Street and Hing Fat Street;
- A section of Electric Road between Lau Sin Street and Tsing Fung Street;
- A section of Lau Sin Street between the cul-de-sac outside Park Tower and Hing Fat Street;
- A section of Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Sin Street;
- A section of northbound Tai Hang Road flyover between a slip road to Tung Lo Wan Road and westbound Victoria Park Road; and
- A section of southbound Percival Street between Gloucester Road service road and Lockhart Road.

B. Traffic diversion

From noon or when necessary:

- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street cannot turn left to Jardine's Bazaar;
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to southbound Canal Road East;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left at the junction with Canal Road East;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near the junction with Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along the slip road leading from westbound Victoria Park Road to Gloucester Road service road must turn right before the junction with Cleveland Street; and
- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park flyover must turn right to Gloucester Road service road.

From 1pm or when necessary:

- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to the U-turn slip road leading to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road flyover cannot turn left to westbound Kingston Street;
- Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover must travel to westbound inner Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road and westbound inner Gloucester Road cannot turn to Cleveland Street;
- Traffic along southbound Paterson Street must turn left to eastbound Kingston Street;
- Traffic along westbound inner Gloucester Road cannot turn left to Cleveland Street and Paterson Street; and
- Traffic along southbound Cleveland Street cannot turn right to westbound Kingston Street.

From 1.15pm or when necessary:

- Traffic from westbound King's Road must turn left to southbound Tung Lo Wan Road, or turn right to northbound Hing Fat Street;
- Traffic along westbound Tung Lo Wan Road cannot turn right to Moreton Terrace;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn right to southbound Tung Lo Wan Road or westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along northbound Tung Lo Wan Road cannot enter Irving Street and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to Keswick Street;
- Traffic along northbound Yun Ping Road must turn left to westbound Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along westbound Leighton Road must turn left to Wong Nai Chung Road (except for franchised bus);
- Traffic along southbound Percival Street must turn left or right to eastbound or westbound Lockhart Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Lockhart Road cannot turn right to southbound Percival Street;
- Traffic along northbound Tin Lok Lane cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Johnston Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fenwick Street must turn left to eastbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Hennessy Road cannot turn right to southbound Fenwick Street;
- Traffic along northbound Tai Wong Street East must turn right to eastbound Johnston Road;
- Traffic along westbound Johnston Road cannot turn right to Thomson Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Johnston Road cannot turn left to Thomson Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Johnston Road cannot turn left to northbound Luard Road;
- Traffic along westbound Johnston Road cannot turn right to northbound Luard Road;
- Traffic along westbound Johnston Road must turn left to southbound Ship Street; and
- Traffic along northbound Landale Street must turn right to eastbound Johnston Road.

From 2.15pm or when necessary:

- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;
- Traffic along westbound Queen・s Road Central cannot turn right to northbound Ice House Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Wyndham Street must turn left to northbound Wyndham Street;
- Traffic along northbound Glenealy must go straight to northbound Wyndham Street;
- Traffic along northbound Garden Road cannot turn left to Lower Albert Road;
- Traffic along southbound Murray Road cannot turn to eastbound Queensway;
- Traffic along Garden Road flyover must turn left to northbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road outside Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along eastbound or westbound Lung Wo Road cannot turn right or left to Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles to the Chief Executive・s Office and the car park of Central Government Complex at Tamar); and
- Traffic along eastbound and westbound Lung Wo Road cannot turn right or left to southbound Edinburgh Place.

At any time when necessary:

- Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road flyover must go straight to northbound Victoria Park Road flyover leading to westbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along westbound inner Gloucester Road cannot turn left to southbound Percival Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Causeway Road cannot turn left to northbound Hing Fat Street; and
- Traffic along westbound King's Road cannot turn right to northbound Hing Fat Street.

C. Suspension of bus stops and green minibus (GMB) terminus

- All bus stops along the closed roads will be suspended from 1pm;
- Subject to crowd situation at Hing Fat Street and the vicinity, the bus and GMB terminus underneath Park Tower will be suspended from 11am until the crowd has dispersed and the roads are re-opened;
- Subject to crowd situation at eastbound Causeway Road, all bus stops along eastbound Causeway Road will be suspended from 3pm until the crowd has dispersed and the roads are re-opened; and
- Subject to crowd situation at Queensway and the vicinity, the bus and GMB terminus at Queensway will be suspended from 3pm until the crowd has dispersed and the roads are re-opened.

D. Suspension of public light bus (PLB) and taxi stands

     All PLB stands and taxi stands along the closed roads will be suspended from 2.30pm until the crowd has dispersed and the roads are re-opened.

E. Suspension of on-street parking spaces

     All metered and non-metered on-street parking spaces along Tung Lo Wan Road and Upper Albert Road will be suspended from 11am to 8pm.

F. Suspension of car parks

- The parking spaces of Victoria Park Public Car Park on Hing Fat Street will be suspended from 11am to 6pm (except for the disabled parking spaces); and
- All public and private car parks along the closed roads may be suspended from 1pm until the crowd has dispersed and the roads are re-opened.

G. Suspension of tram stops

- Tram service will be maintained as normal. Tram track adjacent to the procession route will be reserved as emergency vehicular access;
- Tram stops at both bounds of Causeway Road will be suspended from 2.30pm until the crowd has dispersed; and
- If necessary, tram stops along both bounds of Yee Wo Street near Paterson Street may be suspended from 2.30pm.

(IV)

     A public procession will depart at 3.30pm from Chater Road pedestrian precinct to Connaught Road West, via walkway between the old building of Legislative Council and Statue Square, Bank Street, westbound Queen・s Road Central, westbound Queen・s Road West and Western Street. Intermittent road closure along the above route will be implemented.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above will be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
