Special traffic arrangements for public procession on Hong Kong Island on December 30

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on December 30 (Sunday) to facilitate a public procession held on Hong Kong Island.


Phase I (implemented from 2.15pm onwards)
-----------------------------------------

Road closure:

- The U-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Sugar Street;
- Jardine's Bazaar;
- Tang Lung Street; and
- A section of Canal Road East between Russell Street and Hennessy Road.

Traffic diversion:

- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street cannot turn left to Jardine's Bazaar;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

Phase II (implemented from 2.45pm onwards)

Road closure:

- A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
- Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
- Irving Street (except for vehicles to Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- A section of westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
- A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
- A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Lee Garden Road and Queensway will be intermittently closed;
- The slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Rodney Street;
- A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- the fast lane of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
- A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive's Office and Central Government Offices car park);
- The fast lane of Garden Road flyover; and
- A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

Traffic diversion:

- If necessary, traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover must turn right to westbound Gloucester Road service road;
- If necessary, traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Great George Street must turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except for vehicles to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to westbound Irving Street and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road (except for vehicles to Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- Traffic along westbound Irving Street must turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along northbound Yun Ping Road must turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road cannot right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fleming Road cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along southbound Fenwick Street cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to Tim Wa Avenue (except for vehicles heading for Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park); and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot turn to southbound Edinburgh Place.

Suspension of public light bus (PLB) stand and green minibus (GMB) stand and bus stops
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

     The PLB stand at Sugar Street and GMB stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.15pm and all bus stops along southbound Gloucester Road, Irving Street, westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road and Rodney Street will be suspended from 2.45pm until the crowd has dispersed and roads are re-opened.

Restriction on access to /exit from car parks
---------------------------------------------

     All car parks along westbound Hennessy Road and Rodney Street may be closed at short notice if necessary.  In addition, vehicles may not be permitted to leave or enter the car parks along the procession route during the road closure period.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above may be towed away without prior notice.

     Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of police officers on site.
