An operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) was reported today (December 27) on the website of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co Ltd (DNMC), a spokesperson for the Security Bureau said today.
On December 26, the No. 2 reactor of Phase 1 LNPS had been shut down for planned refuelling outage. During refilling for the primary circuit, the concentration of moderator (boric acid solution) in the refill water was found to have slightly exceeded the relevant limit temporarily. Staff of LNPS immediately rectified the situation. The event has not had any effect on plant or personnel safety. It was classified as a "Level 0" event on the International Nuclear Event Scale, which means it has no safety significance.
