FEHD orders Sham Shui Po restaurant to suspend business for two weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sham Shui Po to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by allowing staff to wash and clean food utensils used in the service of food and store equipment used in the preparation of food in open space.

The restaurant, located at Shop No. 2 on the ground floor of Block 12 in Upper Pak Tin Estate, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 27) to January 9, 2013.

"In July and August this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $3,500 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in June this year. A total fine of $3,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in September this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
