**********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

The year 2013 desktop calendar promoting core values will be available free for collection from December 28 (Friday). It has been published by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE).

Respect, responsibility, love and inclusiveness are the themes of the 2013 calendar. It carries messages embodying core values, such as respect for the aged and the wise and being courteous, in each of the months, coupled with famous quotations from around the world. It is hoped that the calendar can encourage us to put such values into practice in daily life and build a harmonious society together.

The calendar was designed by the renowned local illustrator Maxim Lo, who has depicted different core civic values through her storytelling illustrations with the aim of enhancing the public's understanding of the values.

The calendar is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Home Affairs Department's Public Enquiry Service Centres, public libraries, city halls and town halls, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Civic Education Resource Centre on 7/F, Youth Square, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan.

An electronic version of the calendar will also be available on the CPCE website (www.cpce.gov.hk/calendar2013) for downloading from Friday.

For enquiries, please call 2802 0131.
