Tuen Mun No. 3 alarm fire roundup

     A fire broke out at a recyclable storage site in Lung Kwu Sheung Tan, Tuen Mun last night (December 24). The fire spread to a neighbouring recyclable storage site. A large quantity of recyclable materials mainly comprising plastic and miscellaneous articles at both sites as well as two ranges of metal containers and single-storey tin-sheeted and metal structures for storage purpose were severely damaged by fire.

     The fire broke out at 11.53pm last night. It was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 12.01am today (December 25). The fire was surrounded at 5.10am, put under control at 5.31am, and was largely put out at 7.29am.

     The fire involved a recyclable storage site of about 100 metres x 80 metres. About 80 metres x 70 metres of the site was severely damaged by fire. The fire later spread to a neighbouring site of about 80 metres x 60 metres, of which about 70 metres x 50 metres of the site was severely damaged by fire.

     Firemen used 10 jets and eight breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

     Investigation is continuing.
