Y-Space to perform "Body, I.D., Space V - Body Battlefield"
***********************************************************

The "Body, I.D., Space" Series is a work in progress that has been conducted by local dance group Y-Space over many years. Previous performances in the series were held in Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The coming fifth episode, "Body, I.D., Space V - Body Battlefield", will be staged at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences in February, 2013.

The production is a multimedia adventure with artists from different fields collaborating in an extraordinary environment. Exploring limb movements in the museum's heritage space and bringing together live music, dance, video projection and interactive media, six dancers - Victor Ma, Mandy Yim, Rainbow Lam, Ivy Tsui, Benny Fung and Christine He - will collaborate to engage in a body battlefield together with the audience.

The body is a vehicle for the soul and a means to perpetuate life, but it has also become a battlefield. This innovative production will explore how mankind has treated bodies and lives. Some have created miracles to cure the body, while others have twisted other people's bodies in the name of tradition or for their own gain. And some have done a touching act to extend life, even if only by a minute or a second, while others have absolutely no respect for life, trampling all over lives and manipulating people for political gain.

Founded in 1995 by dance artists Victor Ma and Mandy Yim, Y-Space aims at exploring the infinite possibilities through dance and searching for new dance languages and ways of performing.

"Body, I.D., Space V - Body Battlefield" by Y-Space is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm from February 1 to 3, 2013 (Friday to Sunday) at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences.
