Erhu master Wang Guotong to perform in opening concert for Nan Lian Garden Music Series

     The phenomenal erhu master Wang Guotong will perform in the opening concert in January for the annual Nan Lian Garden Music Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

     Erhu master and music educator Wang, lauded for setting milestones in erhu performance, has composed and arranged several hundred erhu pieces and
études. He has been invited to give performances and lectures in more than 30 countries or cities around the world. With outstanding artistic achievements, Wang has been listed in "Who's Who in Contemporary Chinese Culture and the Arts", "A Dictionary of Chinese Artists" and the "Book of World Celebrities".

     Renowned Chinese music artists have been invited as guest performers for two concerts with Wang. They are erhu soloist Ray Wong, who will also perform a duet with Wang; zheng performer Xu Lingzi; and yangqin performer Guo Jiaying and pianist Zhang Baolong as accompanists.

     There will be lectures and demonstrations (conducted in Putonghua) hosted by Wang. He will talk about his journey in erhu music and demonstrate as well as compare erhu music by Liu Tianhua and Hua Yanjun.
