FEHD orders Mong Kok food factory to suspend business for two weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Mong Kok to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The food factory, located at Shop 10A on the ground floor of Phase 2, Fu Tor Loy Shun Chuen at No. 68A Beech Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 16) to December 29.

"In July and September this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $4,100 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in July this year. A fine of $3,900 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in September this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
