Two men arrested for murder, wounding and robbery

     Police today (December 15) reclassified a wounding and robbery case in Wong Tai Sin as murder, wounding and robbery. Two men in suspected connection with the case were arrested this evening in Wan Chai.

     At about 5.37pm on December 13, Police received a report from a man that there were persons lying unconsciously in a flat in Wang Chung House, Wang Tau Hom Estate, Wong Tai Sin.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found an 82-year-old man, sustaining head injury, lying unconsciously on the floor. His 75-year-old wife, sustaining head and chest injuries, was also found lying unconsciously on bed. They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where the man was subsequently certified dead at 2.09am today.   

    Investigations revealed the couple had been assaulted and robbed in the flat, with some cash, mobile phone and properties worth about $20,000 being robbed.

    Police subsequently arrested two men, aged 52 and 50, for murder, wounding and robbery on Stone Nullah Lane, Wan Chai today. They will be detained overnight for further enquiries.

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased. Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Wong Tai Sin are under way.
