Inmate attacks officer at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre

An inmate at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) this afternoon (December 13) attacked an officer of the Correctional Services Department, causing him injuries.
At around 3pm, the 77-year-old inmate of LCKRC behaved emotionally during a security check and suddenly punched one of the officers with his fist. He was immediately stopped by other officers at the scene.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was given medical treatment. The case has been reported to the Police.
The man was jailed today for the offence of theft.
