Free admission piano marathon at HK Cultural Centre

     To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French impressionist composer Claude Debussy, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present "Children's Corner - Debussy Mini Piano Marathon", a free activity for family enjoyment, from 3pm to 6pm on December 23 (Sunday), at the foyer, Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC).

     Audience members are welcome to sit on the staircase at the HKCC foyer for an afternoon of Debussy's music. Twenty-five young pianists from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will perform in a three-hour piano marathon, playing Debussy's "Two Arabesques", "Valse Romantique", "Suite Bergamasque", "Petite Suite", "Children's Corner", "Estampes", "Images", "Pour le piano", "Prˆmludes", "La plus que lente" and "L'isle joyeuse".

     Children can draw their own impressionistic work using crayons and cards provided while listening to the wonderful music.

     To tie in with the marathon, there will be a free admission exhibition entitled "Debussy - Nature, Art & Music" by local artist Silvia Chan at the foyer of the HKCC from December 17 to January 2.
