Commission of Inquiry's substantive hearing to start tomorrow

The following is issued on behalf of the Commission of Inquiry into the Collision of Vessels near Lamma Island on 1 October 2012:

     The Commission of Inquiry into the Collision of Vessels near Lamma Island on 1 October 2012 will begin its substantive hearing tomorrow (December 12) to hear testimony from witnesses.

     The Commission will commence the substantive hearing on December 12 and it will continue on weekdays until December 21. The hearings will resume on January 7, 2013 and continue until February 8, 2013. The hearings will then resume on February 18, 2013 and continue until completion. The hearing dates are subject to change by further directions of the Commission.

     The hearing's time each day will be from 10am to 1pm and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. On December 17 the hearing will be from 2pm to 6pm.

     The hearing, which will be open to the public, will be held in the hearing room on the first floor, Main Wing, Central Government Offices, Lower Albert Road, Central, Hong Kong. There will also be a simultaneous closed-circuit video/audio broadcast of the proceedings to the hearing transmission gallery (the overflow room) on the fourth floor of the same building.
