Five employee representatives nominated by registered employee unions were today (December 8) elected to the Labour Advisory Board (LAB) for the next two-year term starting in January, 2013.
The representatives returned are (as per the order in the list of candidates):

Hong Kong Civil Servants General Union
* Mr Ng Chau-pei (331 votes)

Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions
* Mr Lee Tak-ming (253 votes)
General Secretary,
Hong Kong and Kowloon Trades Union Council
* Mr Chau Siu-chung (285 votes)
Treasurer,
Federation of Hong Kong & Kowloon Labour Unions
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, and the Commissioner for Labour cum ex-officio chairman of the LAB, Mr Cheuk Wing Hing, congratulated the elected employee representatives.
"The LAB, comprising representatives of employees, employers and Government, has been offering constructive advice on a wide range of major labour issues since 1946. It is an effective platform which enables the Government to balance the interests of employers and employees in the formulation of policies and legislation that seek to improve the welfare, safety and health of employees. I hope that the new term members will continue to make use of this platform to promote a harmonious employer-employee relationship," said Mr Cheung.
Mr Cheuk said he looked forward to working closely with the LAB members in the new term to successfully address issues of concern to employees and employers.
At today's election, 12 candidate nominations were received. Representatives from 362 registered employee unions turned up to vote.
