Contractor fined for violating safety rules

Man Wah Welding Engineering Company Limited was fined $60,000 at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (December 6) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Tai Lam on May 12 this year, in which a worker was trapped by collapsing soil while undertaking excavation works, resulting in his death.
