Transcript of remarks by SCED on domestic free television programme service licence applications
**********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media after attending the meeting of Legislative Council today (December 5):

Reporter: Mr So, is it undesirable from the bureau's point of view that ExCo is delaying and delaying this process all the time?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I don't believe that I could agree with the tone of your question.  There is no delaying.  As I said in Chinese just now, my colleagues within the bureau, because we are assisting the Chief Executive in Council (CE in C) in processing these applications, have been working very very hard.  I think we should be fair to them.  We are working very hard and as quickly as possible in processing all the work and assisting CE in C in handling these three applications.  So I don't think it's fair to use the word "delay" to describe the process and all I could say is we will press on in processing these applications.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
