The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang, today (December 4) concluded his visit programme in Beijing and returned to Hong Kong in the evening.
During his stay in Beijing, Mr Tang visited the Chinese Academy of Governance and toured the Academy's Hong Kong and Macao Training Center. Both sides took the opportunity to exchange views on civil service training matters, and expressed the wish to continue establishing closer liaison and co-operation.
In addition, Mr Tang visited universities assisting in organising training for senior civil servants and met with the institutes' representatives and scholars. These institutes included Tsinghua University, Peking University and the China Foreign Affairs University.
Mr Tang also paid a courtesy call on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and met with the Deputy Director, Ms Hua Jian.
Having concluded his visit to Beijing, Mr Tang departed for Hong Kong in the evening.
