17 building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 17 building plans in October, with seven on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, and three were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 15 building projects that, when completed, will provide 19,995 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 245 units, and 74,534 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued three occupation permits, with three in Kowloon.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 50,315 sq m, involving 717 units, and 7,365 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $1.7 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3,762 reports about unauthorised building works in October, and issued 1,534 removal orders on unauthorised works.
