The Government announced today (December 3) the following appointments to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund for a term of two years with effect from December 6, 2012:
Re-appointments:
Mr Samuel Chan Ka-yan
Mr Anderson Chow Ka-ming
Professor Angela Ng Lai-ping
Mr Kenneth Wong Wing-yan
Ms Jessica Young Yee-kit
New appointments:
Dr Lui Wing-cheong
Mr Selwyn Yu Sing-cheung
"We are grateful to Mr Chan, Mr Chow, Professor Ng, Mr Wong and Ms Young for their continued contribution to the Management Committee. We are confident that with Dr Lui and Mr Yu as new members, the Management Committee will continue to manage the Fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the public interest," a spokesman for the Government said.
Mr Godfrey Lam Wan-ho and Professor John Chai Yat-chiu will retire from the Management Committee upon the expiry of their current term on December 5.
"We are grateful to Mr Lam and Professor Chai for their valuable service to the Management Committee during their office," the spokesman said.
Separately, Ms Gilly Wong Fung-han, the new Chief Executive of the Consumer Council, has replaced her predecessor Ms Connie Lau, who retired from the Council, as an ex officio member of the Management Committee commencing on November 16, 2012.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to meritorious consumer cases for legal action or other forms of assistance.
The Consumer Council is the trustee of the Fund. The Management Committee assists the Council in managing the Fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the Fund.
