The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, led the Hong Kong Police Force delegates to attend the 7th Symposium on Police Studies of the Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao in Macao from 27 to 29 November.
The annual event is held at the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao as well as Taiwan on a rotation basis. The theme of the 7th Symposium was "Strategies on the Control of Cross Border Organised Crime". Over 170 participants including police officers, expert delegates, and scholars from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan participated in the event to exchange their views on combating cross border organised crimes.
The President of the Police Association of China, Mr Tian Qiyu; Deputy Director of the Central People's Government Liaison Office of the Macao SAR, Mr Li Benjun; Secretary for Security of Macao SAR, Mr Cheong Kuoc Va; Commissioner of Hong Kong Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, and Chairman of Taiwan Criminal Investigation and Prevention Association, Mr Henry Chen Shiang-li, gave the opening remarks at the Opening Ceremony in the morning of November 28.
During the seven plenary sessions in the two-day symposium, 29 papers were presented by the participants who focused on the theme and discussed a broad spectrum of initiatives and difficulties while facing challenges of cross border organised crimes, including exploring new thoughts for combating cross-border crimes, reviewing cooperation mechanism in combating cross-border organised crimes and discussing the challenges and opportunities brought by the i-Cloud.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management), Mr Ma Wai-luk; Director of Hong Kong Police College, Mr Cheng Se-lim, and 22 Force members also attended the symposium.
