Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra to celebrate New Year's Eve

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra will perform two concerts entitled "Invitation to the Dance" to celebrate the end of the year and New Year's Eve.

     Under the baton of music director and conductor Ambrose Law, the Orchestra will offer a suitably lively programme including Weber's (orchestrated by  Berlioz) "Invitation to the Dance", J Strauss's "The Blue Danube Waltz", Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire", Alshin's "The Symphonic Pachelbel Canon", Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks", Bizet and E Strauss's "Carmen Quadrille", Waldteufel's  "The Skaters' Waltz", John Williams' "Across the Stars" ("Love Theme" from "Star Wars: Episode II"), and the seasonal Scottish folk song "Auld Lang Syne".

     The Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra aims to enrich the local music scene by offering audiences a range of musical styles from classical chamber concerts to popular film scores. Members include professional musicians and amateurs.

December 29 (Saturday), 8pm

December 30 (Sunday), 3pm
Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall

     Tickets priced from $80 to $140 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
