Village representative by-election to be held on Sunday

     A village representative by-election will be held on Sunday (December 2).

     Thirteen Village Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and 13 valid nominations were received during the nomination period.

     Two candidates are running for the Resident Representative post of Tseung Kong Wai of the Ha Tsuen Rural Committee and polling will be held for the village. The poll will run from noon to 7pm on December 2. Registered electors should bring their identity documents to the designated polling station at Tseung Kong Wai Village Office, Ha Tsuen, Yuen Long, New Territories, to cast their votes.
 
     The Home Affairs Department appeals to registered electors of the Tseung Kong Wai Resident Representative Election to exercise their right to vote.

     Eleven candidates were returned uncontested in their villages to become the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Ma Tseuk Leng Sheung, Tai Wai, Ha Wun Yiu, Tai Tsing Chau and Ham Tin, and the Resident Representatives of Mo Tat, Pui O Lo Uk Tsuen, Shap Long, Hang Hau, Ha Tsuen Shi and Hong Mei Tsuen. No valid nomination was received for Tin Liu Ha.

     Arrangements will be made to enable remanded persons and detainees who are registered electors to cast their votes in the by-election.

     Electors who are remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies (other than the Correctional Services Department) will be arranged to cast their votes at the dedicated polling station at Mei Tin Community Hall, 9 Mei Mun Lane, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, New Territories. The polling hours are from noon to 7pm.

     If necessary, 22 reserved dedicated polling stations set up in penal institutions will be open for voting from 1pm to 4pm for electors under the custody of the Correctional Services Department.
