SLW speaks on statutory paternity leave
***************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on statutory paternity leave today (November 26):

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: I am very pleased that the Labour Advisory Board (LAB) has agreed this afternoon to provide a three-day statutory paternity leave. I think it is a very good start. It is also in keeping with the Government's objective of promoting family-friendly employment practices. I am very grateful to the LAB members for their support. I will be approaching the LegCo Manpower Panel shortly to convey the message and hear their views. And subject to their views and advice, we will then draft the legislation, and introduce the bill into the Legislative Council as soon as possible.
