Draft Yi O Development Permission Area Plan gazetted
****************************************************

The Town Planning Board today (November 23) announced the publication of the Draft Yi O Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

The draft DPA Plan, including Yi O and a site at Nga Ying Kok, covers a total area of about 23.34 hectares. The area is located in the southwest of Lantau Island and is surrounded by the Lantau North and Lantau South Country Parks.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention of the area is to protect its high conservation and landscape value and the rural settings which complement the overall natural character and landscape beauty of the surrounding country parks. The planning intention is also to reflect the existing recognised village of Yi O.

About 0.19 hectare of the area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised village. The remaining 23.15 hectares of the area is designated "Unspecified Use", pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Yi O DPA Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the secretariat of the Town Planning Board; the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin; the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office; the Islands District Office; and the Tai O Rural Committee.

Any person may make written representations in respect of the draft plan to the Secretary of the Town Planning Board on or before January 23, 2013.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
