CSSA caseload for October

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a drop of 799 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, when compared to September's figures, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 21).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 271,123 (see attached table), with a total of 421,439 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.5 per cent and 1.1 per cent to 10,725 cases and 24,604 cases respectively. Single parent cases also dropped by 0.8 per cent to 31,438 cases.

     Ill health and permanent disability cases registered decreases of 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 25,318 cases and 18,358 cases respectively. Old age cases remained steady at 153,603 cases.
